Critical Mixed Race Studies Conference 2010

We are delighted to be headed to Chicago for a unique opportunity! Anomaly’s next stop will be an exclusive Chicago screening at the first annual Critical Mixed Race Studies Conference at DePaul University, Nov. 5-6, 2010. This year’s theme is “Emerging Paradigms in Critical Mixed Race Studies.” The conference is organized by Camilla Fojas and Laura Kina, DePaul University and Wei Ming Dariotis, San Francisco State University. The conference is jam packed with 200 presenters on a multitude of panels, roundtables, and events.

Anomaly will be screening in a primetime slot on Friday, Nov. 5th at 8:30pm at DePaul University Student Center, Room 120B, 2250 N. Sheffield, Chicago, IL 60614. Director/Producer Jessica Chen Drammeh will also be presenting on a filmmaker roundtable on Saturday, Nov. 6th at 3:45pm. The conference is open to the public and free, but advance registration is highly recommended.  To register, visit http://condor.depaul.edu/~aas/CMRSconference/.

A number of participants in Anomaly will also be presenting on panels throughout the two days. Look for Eric Hamako (UMass-Amherst), Prof. Michele Elam (Stanford) and Jen Chau (Swirl) in the conference schedule.

We’re particularly excited to see this conference come to fruition from its brainstorming at the Mixed ROAR Retreat back in Feb. 2008! Looking forward to reconnecting with everyone! -JCD
